It is an easy and simple method that clears out any software glitch or connectivity issue which may cause any malfunction of the Alexa routine.
Turn off any connected devices, including smart speakers and devices, by unplugging them from their main power source.
After unplugging the connected devices, you will have to wait at least 2 minutes to plug them back into their original position.
Once you have done the above troubleshooting procedure, try to run the routines normally again and see if the same issue arises or has been resolved.
However, if the same issue arises and you continue to experience the same problem with your virtual assistant, move on to the next possible solution.
2. Check If the Routine is Connected To the Right Echo Device
The next step for checking the Alexa Routines are not working properly is to check that the routine is connected to the correct Echo device.
You may have mistakenly connected the routine to a different device, causing it to malfunction.
To ensure that your virtual assistant’s routine is assigned to the right Echo device, then follow the below steps:
- Open the Alexa app
- Search for the “Routines”
- Find the specific routine that isn’t working
- Click on the routine to change its settings
- At last, thoroughly check the “Device” option to ensure it is connected to the correct Echo device.
As of above, if the routine is not connected to the right Echo device after checking, then simply check and then select the correct Echo device from the list and save your changes for the solution.
Since the routine is connected to the correct Echo device, try to run it again to see whether or not the problem is solved.
Normally, due to similar names and locations, users mistakenly assign the routine to the wrong Echo device.

3. Ensure Your Echo Device Isn’t Muted
It has been observed that some users unintentionally muted their Echo devices, which results in blaming Alexa for not running their routines.
